Meet Yoga Instructor Carolyn Karuna Dumeyer

Carol began her practice of yoga in 1997 after growing up with yoga, meditation, dance and healing in her family traditions. She had a career in massage therapy for 8 years in California and brings body awareness, anatomy and hands on adjustment to her teaching style. She has completed both Level I & II teacher training with Bhavani Maki at Yoga Hanalei and is the Anatomy instructor for the training as well. She has also been involved in teaching teenage students yoga & anatomy for a home school program for many years in Kilauea. Carol's background in Ashtanga blends with a lighthearted approach to the flow of Vinyasa Yoga, inviting students to challenge themselves in a safe and compassionate manner. Her studies and experience of 15 years in meditation, chanting and spiritual philosophy encourage others to bring awareness to their own unique process of growth and embrace themselves on this journey to the heart through yoga.

Meet Yoga Instructor Melissa Willoughby

Melissa began exploring yoga in 2000 and has continued to deepen into her process as a yoga student since then. She began teaching yoga in 2007 after completing Levels 1 and 2 of the teacher training programs at Yoga Hanalei with Bhavani Maki. She recently completed Level 3 at the beginning of 2010. Melissa is a licensed massage therapist and practices bodywork on the north shore of Kauai. Her studies have been inspired by her many injuries and experience of physical pain throughout her life. Her life experience has initiated a deep curiosity of anatomy along with the science of therapeutic yoga to find alignment and begin to heal her body. While the invitation to yoga was in her physical body, Melissa has recognized that yoga is the integration of her whole being. She is also an artist and enjoys painting and has studied dance for most of her life. Melissa focuses on alignment and awareness in her classes along with lovingly challenging her students to grow in their own personal yoga practice. She is honored to share her experience and love of yoga.
